A pair of Victorian cottages

Located at the end of a cherished local street, these two Victorian cottage type properties in North London were the instruction of two ambitious neighbours with aspirations to design and build together.

This project asked the potential from what is possible when neighbours design at the same time with due consideration. The result; a stark modern design blending sections of matching London stock brickwork with new vertical fluted panelling. Forms maximising internal daylighting, whilst responding to the existing site geometry. Protruding fenestration reveals create deep pockets for elegant steel framed windows and doors.

Internally vaulted exposed ceilings are framed with crafted timber work, concealed connections and whitened finishes, which celebrate the structural design whilst also providing a strong aesthetic.

A design that really explored what is possible when neighbours work together.
